Humans have improved their ability to ignore tremendously over the last century. So much so that we can continue to live by ignoring many things such as wars, famines, genocides, terrorist attacks, etc. Living by ignoring is almost a method and makes it easier for people to become more carefree and indifferent individuals. Trying to live by ignoring the Palestinian resistance fighters who have been subjected to genocide since October 7, 2023 can perhaps be considered the clearest and latest example of this way of life.

A Palestinian child who lost his home, his family and his country, ignore him

According to the Anadolu Agency, the number of people who lost their lives in the attacks carried out by Israel since October 7 has reached 41,615, and the number of injured has reached 96,359.

According to Anadolu Agency data, the number of journalists killed in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023 has reportedly increased to 174.

Some parts of the world ignore the fact that over a million people have been massacred in a confined space by a country with nuclear weapons and incredible ammunition for over a year. No force has been able to organize or stop the war against the Israeli government, which is committing genocide against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip by ignoring human rights. In fact, it would not be right to call this a war because this is an occupation attempt, this is an attempt at genocide. The aim is to crush, destroy and make the Palestinian people and the millions of people who believe in Palestine suffer. By combining this occupation that has been going on for years with genocide, Israel is sending a message to all the peace-loving people of the world; either oppose me and try to stop me or continue to ignore me. This ignoring of the countries considered to be the world’s superpowers, especially the USA and NATO, has now begun to test patience. Countries that have witnessed the massacre of thousands of children, elderly and women, but still do not make an effort to stop Israel, are considered to be complicit in the genocide. The discourse that human rights apply to all people in the world is losing its importance day by day.

You know what you must do

Europe has taken many steps to stop the war in Ukraine, evacuated thousands of people and made significant progress towards peace. It has supported the Ukrainians in every field and continues to do so. So, are the great European states, the most developed states in the world, only interested in events that occur in the European continent? Do they do politics while ignoring the rest of the world?

The Europeans did not ignore the Ukrainians. Yes, I think that is what should be done, not to ignore, to help and support. They imposed sanctions against the Russians to stop the war, they were absolutely right. But what did they do for Palestine and the Palestinians? What did they do when Lebanon was being bombed? What did they do to stop the genocide in Gaza? I think I know the answer; nothing!

They ignored and continue because they do not want to deal with Palestine and the Palestinians. Instead of sharing the pain of the Palestinians, they support the genocidal Israel. Under all these circumstances, we cannot say that the European states are sincere about human rights. There are many peace-loving, anti-war people in Europe and they protest Israeli terrorism at various points, but unfortunately we cannot see this protest on a state level.

As long as we continue to ignore, the genocide in Palestine continues to grow. The death toll in Lebanon grows heavier and Israel increases its oppression. As long as we continue to ignore, children and babies continue to die. As long as we continue to ignore, the fire in the Middle East continues to grow and expand. In short, if we continue to ignore a little longer, we will witness the destruction of a living people and we will be condemned to live with this shame forever.
